Musical Instrument Winners

57cc52bb2561ee14.jpg Musical Instrument Winners

Well, that was the longest winner announcement delay in human history. I love setting records! I’m sorry about the lateness of this announcement. The good news is, I’m counting every single entry in this contest—even those received today—toward the Haiti giveaway, and will thus be donating $795 (one dime for ever comment) to the American Red Cross, designating it specifically for Haitian Earthquake relief. Thank you for your entries—the dimes added up. The winners of the musical instrument sets are: #295 Emily : ” I have three punks, two kids and one husband. In reading other comments I am not the only one that thinks her husband is a punk too.” #3688 Angie : “2 kiddos who adore making music!” #6818 Maldo1975 : “I have 2 munchkins.” Congrats, winners…and thank you for being patient, everyone! Winners, contact prizes@thepioneerwoman.com to claim your loot. Visit link: Musical Instrument Winners

Cupcakes VS Cakes at the NY Cake Convention

0c83780f0abutton 120x150 Cupcakes VS Cakes at the NY Cake Convention

This weekend marked the launch of the first annual New York Cake Convention at the Hotel Pennsylvania. The convention was split into many sections catering to anyone from beginners to professionals. There were classes for kids, demonstrations, vendors, live challenges, and a display room of all the contest entries. The general entry fee was $10, but most of the events required separate registration. Granted, there were a few kinks that still needed to be worked out, but time and experience will fix that. We were particularly intrigued by the Cupcakes V.S. Cake “FACE OFF” event, with a grand prize of $2500. Three winners from each category would be picked and the first place winner from each would then be compared against the other to determine the final winner. Thus, this formal competition put the debate of cupcakes against cakes up to the test. What form would prevail? Needless to say, we’re a tad biased.

Scanpan!

4bc908eb68anpan2.jpg Scanpan!

I’m in love. First: Raise your hand if you have a nonstick skillet that’s peeling and scratchy and embarrassing. *Raises hand* Scanpan is a new discovery for me. Made in Denmark, the nonstick pans are magical and indestructible. Eggs slide. Vegetables glide. And it’s heavy enough that it can sear like no one’s business, and it will make you a happier, more well rounded individual. Who could argue with that! Here’s the description from CHEFS Catalog: “On the forefront of cookware technology, this Danish company uses a patented ceramic titanium nonstick process to craft pots and pans that not only offer foolproof release, but also sear, brown, deglaze and make sauces. The incredibly smooth nonstick surface stands up to years of everyday service.” Translation: You can’t hurt this stuff. If you love nonstick cookware, you’ll want to enter this contest.

Pots & Pans!

5b447fcae2e2 150x99 Pots & Pans!

Now that I’m home for the rest of the week, I’m getting ready to launch into some heavy duty cooking. As soon as the sun peeks over the eastern hills tomorrow morning, I shall chop, mince, sear, boil, saute, sling, fling, and freak out…and make a royal mess in my kitchen. I mean it—the kind of mess you’ve never even seen before. The kind of mess that inhabits your nightmares. Then I’ll do one of two things: a) Sell our house b) Burn it to the ground Anything but clean it up. It isn’t going to be pretty. A couple of things: First, I’m happy to let you know that my Complete Visual Recipe Index has been updated, so if you missed some recipes any time over the past three years or are searching for that Chicken Scallopine recipe you’re positive you saw ’round these parts, it’s all in one place for you. And, uh, speaking of Chicken Scallopine : Try it soon. It’ll make your skirt fly up. Like, totally. And that’s figurative, by the way. If you don’t own a skirt, you will …
