I finally got to try New York City’s new gluten-free bakery, which is now called Tu-lu’s Gluten Free Bakery (was Tully’s, they had to change their name because of a copyright infringment issue), twice, in fact. The space is as adorable as the owl cupcake tree art would predict. It’s cozy, with a few seats where you can eat. They serve paninis, cupcakes, brownies, muffins, cookies and cakes. Cupcakes come in five flavors: red velvet, vanilla/strawberry, peanut butter frosting/chocolate cake, chocolate frosting/vanilla cake and…I forget the last one. They also have mini cupcakes, but go early for those. They’re $1.25 and totally adorable – I really liked the peanut butter/chocolate, closely followed by the chocolate frosting on vanilla cake. The peanut butter frosting wasn’t too sweet, and it was in perfect proportion on the mini cupcakes. Whether you’re gluten-free or not, if you like peanut butter and chocolate, you’ll want to check that out. The red velvet was decent, it’s not really my thing so …
